Professional Background
Andrew Wood has lived in Alberta for his entire life, growing up in Lac La Biche. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Alberta with distinction in 2013, where he volunteered with the Elizabeth Fry Society helping self-represented individuals navigate the Alberta court system. After working at an oil refinery for a year to pay for law school, he entered the University of Alberta Faculty of Law.
During law school, Andrew volunteered with the Student Legal Services Criminal Law Project and participated in the Law Show theatre production, playing drums in the band for all three years. His summer breaks included valuable experience with the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service, gaining daily courtroom experience representing the Provincial Crown, and at Neuman Thompson, an employment and labour law firm in Edmonton.
Andrew graduated from law school in May 2017, completed his articles with Rand & Company LLP, and was called to the Alberta Bar in March 2019. He practices primarily in family law and criminal law, with practical experience in professional discipline law, and is enrolled with Legal Aid Alberta as a roster lawyer for family and criminal law matters. He has appeared at every level of court in Alberta, representing diverse clients in family, criminal, and civil law matters.
Away from work, Andrew enjoys travelling with his wife Jenna and their young son, attending American football games with friends, and reading extensively on topics including criminology and history.
